Overview

Venezuela continues to face a complex humanitarian situation, with an estimated 7.9 million people requiring humanitarian assistance in 2026. Chronic challenges, including economic stagnation, inflation, and weakened public services, continue to affect the most vulnerable populations, particularly women, children, older people, people with disabilities, indigenous communities, people on the move, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Persistent gaps in access to healthcare, water, education, energy, livelihoods, and social protection remain critical concerns.

The situation has been further aggravated by two powerful earthquakes that struck north-central Venezuela on 24 June 2026, causing significant damage to infrastructure, disrupting essential services, and prompting emergency response efforts while needs assessments are ongoing.
