Alliance2015 members People in Need (PIN) and ACTED have been responding to humanitarian needs in Ukraine since 2014, and now plan to scale up efforts in supporting the affected population in Ukraine, as well as in neighbouring countries, where up to 5 million people are expected to seek refuge.

After a short interruption, PIN and ACTED’s activities in Ukraine have been resumed from Lviv.

The first five humanitarian aid trucks with food, hygiene items, diapers, sleeping bags or sleeping mats have already arrived reached Lviv, in addition, the affected population was also supported with water delivery and psychological support. Alliance2015 members will provide as well financial support to local NGO partners to support displaced people with water, food, hygiene, and other urgent humanitarian needs in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Sviatohirsk.

Alliance2015 members are also mapping the situation at border crossings in Romania and Moldova. Jan Pejřil, a PIN coordinator, on the Moldovan border, explains that “People in Need has decided to support the newly emerging platforms for coordination of volunteers and assistance in Romania and Moldova, and other entities that operate directly at the border crossings. They will receive money for the necessary operational costs and the purchase of the necessary material aid”.
