1Planet4All: Empowering youth, living EU values, tackling climate change

Climate change is no longer a phenomenon affecting distant destinations and people; we are increasingly seeing it impact on our daily lives no matter where we live. We know that if we do not act now together on climate change, it might be too late.

What is 1Planet4All?

It’s a climate campaign which takes place in 12 European countries, where 6 of Alliance2015 members joined forces with other ngos (for a total of 14 organisations), to report on their experiences in the Global South, because that is where climate change is massively increasing other existing problems.

What is its aim?

The aim of this EU wide campaign is to show EU young citizens aged 15-35 that there is a clear inter-dependency between our actions and policies in the developed countries and the impact of climate change in developing countries.
This project , co-financed by the European Union (DEAR Programme), is about working together to keep the topic of climate change in the focus of attention and, above all, to encourage young people – the decision-makers of tomorrow – in their commitment to climate protection and justice.

The European Commission’s Development Education and Awareness Raising Programme, DEAR, supports projects that engage the European Union public in worldwide issues of social, economic and environmental development.

By funding projects like 1Planet4All, the DEAR programme promotes universal values of freedom, democracy and the rule of law and enables European citizens to make positive contributions to global development.

The DEAR Programme funds up to 30 projects that span the EU Member States at any one time. These projects contribute to raising the European public’s understanding and engagement in positive social change, at both the local and international level.

DEAR activities also feed into the EU’s support for the globally agreed Sustainable Development Goals to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all by 2030.
