Joining Efforts in and for Haiti

The three established members Concern, Welthungerhilfe and ACTED are now running large emergency aid programmes in the earthquake-affected areas, coordinating some of their efforts such as information sharing and logistics. Concern is currently focusing more on the urban- and Welthungerhilfe more on the rural population. People in Need, who are extremely successful with their fundraising in the Czech Republic, have passed on some of their funding to Concern and ACTED respectively. Cesvi, who was sharing an office with Welthungerhilfe already before the earthquake, is working closely together with the German partner. The organisations have done a joint assessment in the Petit Goave area.

IBIS has also transferred some funding to Concern and is planning to cooperate with the Irish partner in the area of Education for Emergencies.

People in Need sent some medical staff to Port au Prince, which has joined Concern and ACTED.

Plans to share a warehouse and a logistician are currently being discussed by the members present in Haiti.
