Bienvenue ACTED - Alliance2015 has a new Member
During the general meeting in Germany in May, Alliance2015 welcomed the young French NGO ACTED into its European network as an associate member. Since the end of 2003, when People in Need from the Czech Republic joined, ACTED is the first additional Alliance2015 member.
ACTED was founded in 1993 in Afghanistan/Pakistan and now works in 22 countries, mostly in Central Africa and Asia. The 2007 turnover was 41,5 mio. EURO (25% EU, 31% bilateral, 41% UN/World Bank, little private funding). In the field, ACTED works with a staff of about 2.500, out of which 135 are expatriates. The organisation has a very decentralised structure and works with only 25 staff members in their head office in Paris.
ACTED focuses on emergency and relief & rehabilitation but also includes health, education and several other issues in its portfolio – quite some overlap with one or more Alliance2015 members’ or with the Alliance’s own focus issues of education and HIV&AIDS.
Development plans of ACTED include building a microfinance institution, which is already growing rapidly (OXUS) and engaging more in cultural and environmental activities.
